In 2013, Sheryl Sandberg authored “Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead”. Her book explained that the natural leadership traits held by women are exactly what great corporations need at the top. The soft skills at which women excel are taking businesses from good to great, and the movement of conscious capitalism thrives on such skills. Thus, the Lake Highlands Chamber wanted to address women in business for working women in Lake Highlands, and the Women’s Leadership Connection was founded in 2013.
The Women’s Leadership Connection (WLC) mission is “empowering and promoting business-minded women in Lake Highlands.” As a branch of the Lake Highlands Chamber, the Women’s Leadership Connection strives to continue the goals of the Chamber in growing and supporting local businesses, but with an emphasis on women’s specific needs in networking. The WLC was formed with the premise that women network differently than men in that women make connections first, with business relationships following those connections.
Now in our second year, the WLC has over 75 registered attendees, which meet every other month at various local venues. Each networking event has at least one spotlight sponsor, raffles, food and beverages, as well as plenty of time to mix and mingle in a low-pressure, friendly environment.
If you are a business-minded woman, whether you are a Mompreneur or a Fortune 500 executive, we want to network with you. If you live or work in the Lake Highlands area, please join us for networking, social events, and fun.
